Our customers have grown to expect only the highest quality products from PMC A Division of R-SCC. This design incorporates quality with economy. The individual conductors are insulated with extruded polyvinyl chloride.
This construction provides a product with high dielectric strength as well as outstanding insulation resistance to ozone, acid, alkalis, alcohol, oil, gasoline, grease, wax, moisture, and most solvents. It is also tough and resistant to flame, abrasion, and moisture.
Polyvinyl chloride (generally referred to as PVC) compounds were commercially introduced in 1935. Three types of compounds are available; the semi rigid type, the conventional plasticized type, and the more recently developed irradiated type. Although PVC compounds can be made to provide a broad range of properties, from the standpoint of chemical, physical, and electrical characteristics, each represents a compromise. Therefore, PMC formulates its insulations to give optimum or required values to the critical properties without permitting less critical properties to fall to unacceptable levels. |

Polyvinyl chloride resin itself is non-toxic and fungus resistant but other properties of the compound may not be. It is possible with careful selection and matching of ingredients or by including special additives, to develop non-toxic and fungus resistant formulas upon request.
The thermocouple grade products are used to form temperature sensors and the extension grade products become the interconnecting link in the temperature sensing systems.
We generally do not recommend PVC constructions for applications below -58°F (-50°C) because the PVC compounds stiffen as the temperature declines. Suggested operating ranges is -15°F to 221°F (-26°C to 105°C). The insulation on the individual conductors and the jacketing are both color-coded to ANSI standards for quick identification of conductors and calibration.
